Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

David Klein

This, too, is not the kind of advertisement he is hoping for.

Personal responsibility is dead in this country. If I were to tell a friend that I care about that I am concerned for them due to a health issue caused by bad behavior, be it smoking, bungee jumping, or whatever... I am being offensive. I am preventing their self actualization. I, for all intents and purposes, am hurting their feelings by showing concern.

Oh, it pisses me off so very much, the lack of personal empowerment in this culture.

What set this rant off? Oh... nothing. If this police chief truly was an abbrasive manager, and this memo was, quite ironically, "the icing on the cake", then I am convinced, that this police force NEEDS an abbrasive mangager, and more memos.

We have the pinnacle of human technological and cultural achievement within our grasp, and this is what we do with it?

I weep for the future.

I can't believe they made him resign over that. It didn't even single anyone out specifically.
