Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

George Walker Bush

You know what's really frightening? Either he truly believes that his current policies and his gaming of the system is the right thing for America, or he doesn't care about America, at all.

All right, so I am a libertarian. Note the small "l", there, eh? So, the current crop of megalomaniacal socialists, tow-the-line authoritarians, pandering opportunists, inexperienced former law professors, ambulance chasing former senators, out-of-work actors, and Arkansas governors... do not thrill me.

Indeed, the guys that do interest me... have a snow ball's chance in August of becoming President. This pisses me off. What sucks is that Richardson or Paul can't get a break. Paul would end the wars, engage in unilateral diplomacy with the whole world, and not spend a single red cent in four or hopefully eight years. Do you have any idea what EIGHT YEARS of a balanced budget would do for the country?

Richardson would bring our allies back to the table, finish the wars, invest heavily in renewable technologies, probably raise taxes, and if he were re-elected, probably bring the country back to solvency in seven or eight years. He would be a DECENT President.

Neither of them are going to make it.

FUCK!

The power of the veto pen is quite a good thing. With the amount of rampant special interests that have bought the disparate blocs of Congress, there are really only two choices for a President these days: sign the budget, or allow the government to go into shutdown.

Paul would let the government go into shutdown.

As for Richardson, having a majority in the Senate and the House, along with no ties to heavy industry, and a real background in diplomacy... he would clean up the mess.

Your cynicism is often accurate, but rarely welcomed, Chud.

tis a far better thing to know your own opinion and state it, than to never state it and live to regret it.
