Why, exactly, are so many of us punishing her? Is it because she had sex? Is it because she did not use contraception (or that it failed)? Is it because she is keeping the baby, instead of quietly having an abortion? Is it because you don't like her family?
Whatever the reason, it is, in my mind, hypocritical, hateful, and cold. You know what? Tomorrow, billions of us are going to celebrate the birth of a child to a scared teenage mother. Yes, I DID go there, fuck you very much.
Look, if it is your bag, please say a prayer for Jamie Lynn. If it isn't your bag, please think about her and the many thousands of other teen mothers that deserve our support.
She's not Britney, and she is a frickin' CHILD. Ridicule and disdain really looks ugly this time of year.
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.
