Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Jack Hanna

He's ten times the man Steve Irwin ever was.

So, Larry King is on, and I am watching Jack Hanna bring in the cute animals, you know, the Kangaroos, the Wallabies, the porcupines...

Now, he's a real naturalist, Jack Hanna. Not that attention whore Steve Irwin. Jack Hanna is not slick, he talks too fast, he is not spectacular. He's really all about the animals, not himself.

He and Natalie Portman went to Rwanda to help out the mountain gorillas. He built a house for the country, to take care of the gorillas. That's decent, that isn't flashy. That isn't pulling an Irwin.

Assholes like Irwin, they suck all of the oxygen out of the room. Hanna toiled quietly for too long while that Australian jerk jumped on the backs of crocodiles and screamed "crikey".

You know, already there are a couple of wildlife stories going on, right? The San Francisco Zoo Tiger attack, and the whole loss of habitat thing due to climate change, this year. I am rooting for Jack Hanna, and I hope the Irwins of the world are forgotten.
