Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Anthony Perkins

He knew a little something about holes.

Urrgh. CNN is running a celebration of the life of Christa McAuliffe. While the woman deserves to be remembered and cherished, six other human beings died in the Challenger disaster. Their names were:

Commander (CMD): Francis "Dick" Scobee, father of Kathie and Richard, husband of June.

Pilot (PLT): Michael J. Smith, Vietnam pilot and winner of the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Mission Specialist 1: Judith Resnik, engineer and namesake to the Resnik crater.

Mission Specialist 2: Ellison Onizuka, father of Janelle and Darien, husband of Lorna.

Mission Specialist 3: Ronald McNair, saxophonist and composer.

Payload Specialist 1: Gregory Jarvis, Air Force Captain and SUNY alumnus.

Christa McAuliffe was an amazing woman and a fine American, but she was not the only amazing person we lost that day. All seven should be remembered.

Discordant thought; what if someday everyone got what they deserved?
