Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Nicolas François Appert

Il était un serrurier.

So, it's early morning, right? I am looking in my pantry for something to chew on, 'cause I ain't tired. I find, to my amazement, pickled cucumbers in soy sauce, canned in Taiwan.

I need to start doing more of the shopping.

am I the only one who thinks that might be tasty?

not for breakfast, of course. but as a snack. mmmm...could be good after a few drinks.

And it was British inventor Peter Durand who use Nicolas's techniques on a metal can. Mmm...tasty lead poisoning!
