Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Carl Hjalmar Asplundh

He knew something about trees.

So, there was an ice storm. It pretty much affected southeast Michigan (or at least here and Garden City). That's not really remarkable. What is remarkable, at least for me and my reader(s?), is that a tree fell in my front yard. Big honker, too. Luckily, a Poulan two stroke chain saw, my stepfather, a Little Tikes plastic wagon, my two half brothers, and I got it chopped up into manageable pieces and by the side of the road in a couple of hours.

Yep, anybody want some firewood? Hurry quick, before the city of Ypsilanti turns it into mulch...

I had a momentary outage, as far as I know. But I have power now. Friends in Livonia on the other hand, are investing in a generator because they have no power, and DTE isn't giving any approximations on the repair.

most of the midwest and some of the south west are under ice. My neighborhood didn't lose power but others did. My dad wants to get a generator...we'll see about that

Caden and I put out a tray of water last night and this morning it was frozen.

That was our little physics lesson for the week.

Hardcore, huh?
