Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Chris Carter

The Truth is out there.

So, today is Father's day. I spent it at my paternal grandfather's lakehouse estate. There was barbecue, TV golf watching, swimming, and the discussion of alternative fuel sources with my aunt Ruth. No, I just didn't start rattling off stuff without a cue... she and uncle Rick had bought a Mercury Mariner hybrid, so talking about it led to the overall ways Americans can kick the oil habit.

Falling asleep and drooling on photos of Arlington National Cemetery from the most recent National Geographic is embarrasing.

Any ways, Liz and I took US route 23 North to North Territorial road to get to Grandpa's place. This would be unremarkable, except for something I noticed on the way...

For the longest time, Scully road connected to North Territorial, between Webster Church and Zeeb roads. A new housing development popped up in the last few years (why do people bring it all with them when they try to get away from it all?), and apparently... the developers were geeks.

The new privat road, not 200 yards from Scully road... is Mulder road.

That made me smile.
