Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Spacebat

This sentence links to the story about Spacebat. Unless you are reading this on Facebook.

Bats are special. They are the only mammals capable of true flight, and are vital to ecosystem health. This particular animal was weakened due to injuries, and would have died soon due to this. In a different time, a free tailed bat with injuries would have starved to death or have been picked off by a predator. Fate had something different in store for this bat.

This bat, this tiny bundle of wings, fur, and ears... exhausted and in pain, found its way to the space shuttle. Clinging on to one of its fuel tanks, he could not have known what was in store for it. All he knew was that it couldn't fly anymore.

He flew one last time. One last, glorious, beautiful time.

God Speed, Spacebat. I will always remember you, for you are proof that we all can be amazing.
