Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

George Orwell

He knew that technology was a double edged sword.

Vote. Read the newspaper. Talk to your neighbors about the happening in your town and in the world. Be an engaged citizen. Do not think that you "are just one person", damn it.

You are the product of the struggle of 200,000 years. Honor your ancestors, and FIGHT.

Honestly Scoot, did you really believe Ron paul had a fighting chance?

I'm Scooter, but I might be a troll. said...

Thankfully, whether he wins the nomination or not is irrelevant. His ideas and the social networks that are being created through his campaign will outlive this candidacy and this election.

Do you really think that a bunch of technologically savvy, moneyed, young, and engaged folks are going to just pack it in after the convention? Ron Paul has brought together a wonderful coalition of disparate groups that have come together under the consensus of conservative values and constitutional governance.

The presidency is just a revolving door every four or eight years. Ideas... ideas are immortal.

Scooter, to answer your question in my blog, no I do not think women should be offered free firearms courses and vouchers. I think we are past the point where giving out freebies to people based on gender, religion or race is appropriate. And handguns aren't like Medicare--I'm not sure how you would demonstrate a need for that sort of assistance when there are many other forms of self defense. (Womens' shelters often offer self defense courses, and you can buy mace without needing to wait five days.)

If women wants to learn how to fire a handgun, here is the process:
1. Find the yellow pages
2. Look up gun ranges
3. Call and ask for a course on guns, including safety and how to effectively handle one.

Vouchers? Pffft.
