Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Elijah McCoy

His workshop in Ypsilanti is commemorated by a plaque next to the library.

So, I had a bit of a heart attack moment today. I was scooting in to dad's house, right? I was returning the coil nail gun and the air hose. I put the hose in the basket, but I didn't really spend a lot of time securing it in there. Bad idea.

So, I am half way to dad's house, at a traffic light. I happen to glance back... and... no hose! Holy crap. So, I turn around, following my route back to Ypsi. Thankfully, it was a bright, day glo orange, so I found it pretty easily.

But damn... talk about a scare, eh?
