Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Takeo Fukui, again.

Let's try this with Kim miles and miles away. She's all hot and stuff, so it's hard to concentrate with her around. Not that I would have it any other way...

All right, before I write about the Honda Civic GX, I should write about the dream I had last night. For some reason, I was in Ann Arbor... during a summer festival... at the corner of North Maple and Dexter... you know, where the urgent care building is? Well, for some weird reason, there was a Birthday summer celebration going on in conjunction with the festival, At Loy's TV repair. With Komodo dragons. In a pen. For a festive flair.

Look, it's a dream. It doesn't have to make sense.

Any ways, the Komodo dragons got loose, of course, and animal control starts chasing them... right at me. So, I get scratched by one of their claws... it's just a tiny scratch... I think actually I was dreaming about a scratch that Kim's cat gave to me... wait, no! Abby gave that scratch to Kim... any ways, the scratch starts puffing up, I remember that dragons have toxic saliva, so I walk over to urgent care, where they start pumping me full of antibiotics, and that's when Kim moved, and woke me up.

All right. Now, the Civic GX.

What is the Civic GX? Well, it's a Civic, through and through. Well engineered, good handling, good pick-up, and stylish. It also runs on natural gas. A full tank will get you from Ann Arbor to Chicago.

Now, I know what you are thinking. You are thinking "well, that's all well and good, but I don't have any natural gas outlets where I live." Well, assuming that you have a natural gas furnace or water heater, or stove... you DO have a natural gas outlet where you live. It's called the Phill, and it allows you to fuel your car from the convenience of your home.

Here's Phill's homepage.

Now, I bet you are wondering about its performance. Well, since the GX is a CVT drivetrain, its fuel economy is spectacular. It gets 25 city, 36 highway. On a fuel that costs about a dollar fifty in comparison to gasoline, which is at four dollars or so.

Moreover, since natural gas is so much cleaner, the engine is expected to last 500 thousand miles before it needs to be replaced. At 15,000 miles a year, that is a lifespan of thirty years. Oil changes are rated for every ten thousand miles.

I think that if you can't buy a GX, you should see if you can convert your car to natural gas.
