Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Drunken Chud

As much fun as it is to argue about syntactic and semantic minutiae with him for me, it has to be supremely boring for everyone else.

Any ways, since I am desperate for contact and I am pretty boring in real life, seeing as the most exciting thing to happen to me this week was a glitch in the print server software at work, people are going to have to endure an inane, pointless, and altogether disinteresting argument over a phrase that was typed in haste over half a week ago.

Asperger's / Stubbornness wondertwin powers, unite!

"Almost bordering" is the phrase of contention here. Chud appears to believe that since each word means "nearly", using them together is merely semantic flourish. It isn't his fault to assume as much. Reporters punch up their language to sell copy. Presidential speech writers add superfluidity to the words of their candidates for emotional and rhetorical impact.

In this environment, it is hard to remember that sometimes succintness and utility can be more effective in discourse than resplendence and glamour.

"Almost bordering" is the phrase. Not "almost-bordering", "almost... bordering" or "Almost. Bordering". This is important to point out.

See, when used without punctuational modifiers, the words, which are synonyms of "not quite" simply enhance each others base meaning.

Chud accused me, essentially, and I am paraphrasing now, of "not quite not quite zealotry".

Chud once drove past a farm. There were cows in the field. His penis was with him at the time. He once not quite not quite raped a cow.

How many more days until you're done with 365? Did you start on the first of the year? I will miss daily updates, even though we talk daily. You are not required to amuse us. We will only judge you negativelty.:0D

oddly, you've almost bordered on answering a simple question that you have ended up spinning into this stream of dreck to simply avoid taking a stance.

and bordered is not a synonym for not quite. in fact it would be an antonym as a border is a clearly defined line. an edge. an extreme external boundary. bordered being a simple past tense and past participle of border, would have no such synonym as "not quite". if you want to use synonyms my statement would read "nearing the brink of zealotry".

just because you want these to be vague, does not in fact make them so.

i can not comment on the veracity of chud's assertions.

you are both talking a little past each other and engaging in an art designed to make yourselves right without much point to the being right. and you each show some skill at it and then lapse into . . . idk, but ya lose it.

all that said - "almost" and "bordered" do not both mean nearly. now i know what you meant but if you are going to be dogged about definitions.

otoh, i would still like to see evidence of the aforementioned "nearly on the outside edge" of zealotry

hey, anybody wanna hear what I dreamed last night?!

Kris, in all honesty, it might give me something to write about that would be more fun for the other people that visit this blog other than Chud and myself. So yes, please tell me your dreams.

Cassie, I really am not trying to win anything. Chud's insistence on pursuing this is really co-dependent behavior. He likes to argue, I need content. We both win, in an as unhealthy and depraved way as possible.

Chud... I honestly don't care. You accused me of almost being a zealot. In other words... you almost accused me of something. Try again.

Kim, January 1 to December 31. Still, I always want to amuse you.

The story of Chud almost raping a cow is soooo not what I was expecting. *siiiigh*

if you aren't trying to win then pursuing it for so long - dedicating an entire post to it nonetheless - bleh

contact of a cerebral nature - it's what usenet was invented for and yet isn't short on inane arguments. Particularly of the variety where two people know right well what the other means but waylay the substance with tangles of what the meaning of "is" is or assertions that proof is rampant without one tiny iota of it displayed.

so in order to answer the question myself - i have done some skimming of your archives. as yet i have found nothing pointing to a palinesque position nor christian zealotry though i admit that i haven't made it through all of them.

i did find one post where you infer that jesus and mary magdalene were a thing which would generally be seen as blasphemous.

there were only two things of great note politically (to me) - the suggestion that there was no reason to vote for hillary besides her being a woman. i have no use for her but to deny that she has political experience and intelligence is silly. the only thing that made my eyes sorta fall out of their sockets and roll around " how often can you vote for a black man and feel good about it "

but what the hell do i know -
i do it all for the nookie; the nookie and you can take that cookie . .. .
