Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Richard Alan Clarke

He is a patriot that has dedicated his life to protecting his fellow citizens. The George Walker Bush administration never listened to him.

Ok, first off, if anyone has told you that because Congress has not reauthorized the Orwellian-esque named "Protect America Act", America is now less safe... That person has lied to you. Any and all surveillance operations that began under the law can continue for up to one year of the date they began, starting from August 5, 2007, the date when President Bush signed it into law.

That means that we have until the fifth of August, 2008, to come up with a new law, if at all.

Oh, didn't you know? The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 has created an entire bevy of Judges ready and willing to sign any surveillance operation warrant presented to them.

If any person tells you that there is a backlog in the FISA court, That person is also lying to you. Because of the temporary amendment to the act, which expires this Saturday, the backlog has disappeared. Apparently, when you no longer use something, like the FISA court, it tends to no longer be busy.

The Bush administration simply does not want to worry about judicial review of its actions. At all. Apparently, some people have been watching "24" as a documentary...

Please tell me you didn't think it was a documentary. Seriously, it is a fictional show. As such, we should not base our foreign policy on it.

Ye Cats, how did we find ourselves here?

For the ehll of it:

Did you ever read Richard Clarke's book, wherein he tells the story of the DOD wanting to assassinate Osama Bin Laden, and asking for permission, but Clinton was too busy watching GOLF ON TELEVISION?!?!

This "war on terrorism" could;ve been avoided (or, at the least, postponed) if Clinton hadn't been a fucking lazy asswipe, and would've taken action at the time.

No.....everyone looks at, and wants to blame the GOP for something that was a direct result of shit that could've been "nipped in the bud"
