Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Winona Ryder

A movie like Heathers wouldn't get $3.48 worth of Hollywood funding these days.

So, there I was, sleeping at Kim's house. It's three in the morning, and *skritch skritch skritch skritch skritch* can be heard coming from... somewhere. We decide to ignore it for a few minutes... then Kim has to get up to make sure none of the animals are in trouble. So... we are both awake, and we don't know what the noise is. At that point, we decided the best way to get rid of the noise would be to make noise ourselves.

So... we did. It worked for a little while. Unfortunately, it wasn't a permanent solution.

Any ways, Kim bends over and looks out her side window, and she finds out where the noise is coming from. After a few minutes of looking out the window, we decide to check it out.

So, there I am, it's 3:45 or so in the morning, barefoot, walking towards the unknown contained in Kim's garbage container.

Wait for it...

It was a raccoon. When I lifted the top, it looked up at me, and gave me this look that seemed to say... "Oh, Hi! Yeah, I was just checking to see if anyone was stealing your garbage... you're all good. Uh... can you let me out?" Kim wanted to look at the example of urban wildlife. She went "aaawwwww"... then it was time for me to let the animal go.

She's lucky it wasn't a skunk.

I am always shocked when I have to force myself to remember that not every body lives in a place where you regularly have, on your front or back yard bears, deer, coydogs, raccoon, rabbits and a slew of other animals.
