Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Sarah Palin

The chances that she did not know about the police department's policy of charging rape victims for their rape testing kits, when she was mayor of a town with a population of 5,000... is quite small. It is even smaller if you consider that she appointed the police chief who implemented the policy.

There is no context that makes such a policy acceptable. There is no mitigating factor that makes it forgivable. I wasn't going to vote for her because I saw no distinguishable difference between Obama's and McCain's campaign. I'm still not voting for her, and I'm still not voting for Obama.

Look. I think Obama is dangerous. I think Palin is down right terrifying.

As usual, both candidates look bad.
As usual, we will have an undesirable president.
I haven't been excited about the presidency elections since Clinton's first election, and that was because I was naive. I have leaned towards Obama and then McCain, and now I lean towards the Independents. This election is goingto ruin my birthday!

agreed; the choices are dismal, although i admit to having found nothing IN PARTICULAR disturbing about Obama yet but i feel confident it is only because i haven't looked that hard. the horror of the specifics is only surpassed when you think of how darkly broken the system istelf is . . .

that said, i'd like to take a moment to say, without irony, i love my country. the government? yes, scary and far, far less than it should be BUT far and away it is one of the best. if not THE best system on earth.

not acknowledging that is jaded and jaded is one short little step from complacent; if not an actual facet of complacency.

i'm not lecturing either of you. i'm saying it more for myself than anyone.
