Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Wilhelm Rontgen

He recorded the first medical x-ray when he photographed his wife's hand with her ring on 22 December 1895.

So, today I have an appointment with an osteopath, and then a psychiatrist. I have some anxiety about the second appointment, which is making the morning a bit tense. Sadie does not need this. Any way, in recent events, I want to say that I am truly sorry for Japan's loss. I am also confident in the resilience of the Japanese people.

For those of you reading this in the future, there was a massive earthquake and tsunami in Japan today. It really sucks over there right now.

Perspective is key to a balanced life.
